Reading

Section 2 has 2 texts related to work contexts (job descriptions, training materials). Section 3 has one longer, more complex text on a general interest topic.

Writing

60 minutes

Two tasks. Task 1 requires you to write a letter of at least 150 words — it may be formal, semi-formal, or informal depending on the situation. Task 2 is an essay of at least 250 words responding to a point of view, argument, or problem. Task 2 carries twice the weight of Task 1.

Listen to a 10-minute English podcast daily and note 5 new words or expressions.
第3周	GT Reading — Everyday Texts Reading	• Section 1: extracting details from advertisements, notices, leaflets, and timetables efficiently • Scanning techniques for practical texts: finding prices, dates, conditions, and contact details • True/False/Not Given in the context of factual, everyday texts — common traps and careful evidence checking	Complete three GT Reading Section 1 practice sets. Read two real English texts (an online advertisement and a public notice) and write five comprehension questions for each.
第4周	GT Reading — Workplace Texts Reading	• Section 2: reading job descriptions, employment contracts, workplace safety guides, and training manuals • Matching information and headings in structured workplace documents • Sentence completion and short-answer questions: locating precise information in policy documents	Complete two GT Reading Section 2 practice sets. Find a real English job advertisement online and annotate it with vocabulary notes. Write answers to five short-answer questions about the job posting.
第5周	GT Writing Task 1 — Formal Letters Writing	• Formal letter conventions: "Dear Sir or Madam" / "Dear Mr/Ms [Name]", purpose statements, polite requests, and formal closings ("Yours faithfully" / "Yours sincerely") • Letter of complaint: describing a problem clearly, stating what action you expect, maintaining a firm but polite tone • Letter of request: asking for information, requesting permission, enquiring about services	Write two formal letters: (1) Letter to a local council complaining about a broken streetlight in your area and requesting repair, (2) Letter to a university requesting information about a short course. Submit both for detailed feedback.

第7周	GT Writing Task 2 — Essay Writing Writing	• Identifying essay types from prompts: opinion, discussion, problem-solution, advantage-disadvantage, two-part question • Planning technique: the 5-minute outline using bullet points for introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion • Body paragraph development: PEEL method with clear topic sentences and concrete examples from everyday life	Write two Task 2 essays under 40-minute timing: (1) "Some people think that children should start school at a younger age. Others believe they should start later. Discuss both views and give your opinion." (2) "Many towns and cities now have problems with traffic. What are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?" Submit for feedback.
第8周	Speaking — Parts 1 & 2 Speaking	• Part 1 practice across 15 topic areas: home, neighbourhood, work, studies, daily routine, food, weather, holidays, music, reading, technology, friends, family, transport, and shopping • Part 2 cue card technique: using the 1-minute preparation time effectively, speaking for the full 2 minutes with structure • Describing people, places, objects, and experiences vividly: adjectives, adverbs, and specific details	Record six Part 2 responses: (1) a place in your city you recommend, (2) a skill you would like to learn, (3) a time you helped a stranger, (4) your favourite childhood memory, (5) an important decision you made, (6) a piece of advice someone gave you. 第9周	Speaking — Part 3 & Pronunciation Speaking	• Part 3 discussion skills: giving extended answers, exploring causes and effects, comparing past and present, speculating about the future • Expressing opinions: hedging (it seems to me, I would argue), agreeing and disagreeing politely, acknowledging other viewpoints • Pronunciation workshop: word stress in polysyllabic words, sentence stress for emphasis, intonation patterns for questions and statements	Prepare and record extended Part 3 responses on five themes: (1) changes in your community, (2) the role of technology in education, (3) health and exercise habits, (4) the importance of family, (5) environmental issues in your country. Focus on giving reasons, examples, and balanced views.
