Cambridge Young Learners English (YLE)

Cambridge Young Learners English tests are designed specifically for children aged 6-12 and cover three progressive levels: Starters (Pre-A1), Movers (A1), and Flyers (A2). Teacher Changchang uses a fun, game-based methodology with songs, stories, colouring activities, and interactive role-play to build confidence and genuine English skills. Each child receives a certificate with shields showing their achievement in Listening, Reading & Writing, and Speaking.

What's covered

Listening

Starters: 20min / Movers: 25min / Flyers: 25min

Children listen to short dialogues, stories, and descriptions, then match pictures, colour objects, write names, or tick boxes. Audio is played twice at each level.

  • Listening for specific information in dialogues

Reading & Writing

Starters: 20min / Movers: 30min / Flyers: 40min

Students read sentences, short texts, and stories, then answer questions by writing words, matching, or completing sentences. Complexity increases across levels from single words to short paragraphs.

Speaking

Starters: 3-5min / Movers: 5-7min / Flyers: 7-9min

A friendly face-to-face conversation with an examiner using picture cards and visual prompts. Children describe scenes, tell stories from picture sequences, and answer personal questions. The atmosphere is designed to be encouraging and supportive.
